“Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For indeed that's all who ever have. ”
― Margaret Mead

A HAPPIER, SAFER, MORE FREE WORLD FOR ALL

1

Student Voice wasn't accurately being represented in parliaments across Australia.

As a student-based network, we strive to tackle the social, political and environmental issues of modern society by providing a platform for youth to collectively take action.

The Student Voice Network was founded on the belief that youth have the power to change our planet! This platform now full of passionate, like minded students came to be after a few very important realisations...         -->

WHY WE

STARTED

2

Issues that were shown by the media and by our politicians to be so controvercial students were able to come to consensus of.

3

There was no other platform for students to tackle multiple issues from the front of 1 network.

SO HOW DO WE DO THIS?

"I feel empowered to be a part of a network where I get to work with youth just like me who want to shape our future for the better"

1

CONNECT AND COLLABORATE

At SVN we believe in the power of connected youth!

At SVN we share ideas, resources, ask for help and collaborate with other young people to take action on the issues that are important to us!

You may feel like just 1 person but with a network of youth from schools all across the country, your voice is powerful!

" We can do more together than we ever could alone. "

HOW DO WE DO THIS IN SVN

We do this by using the communication platform SLACK and our weekly virtual calls and once a month meet-ups

HOW DO WE DO THIS IN SVN

We do this by using google drive to share resources and by organising events like our Feminist Lecture Series, Action Summit (in planning for 2020) and training students to deliver the SVN Workshop to empower students at their own school!

2

EDUCATION

We aim to empower students by providing them with the knowledge, resources and training to take meaningful action on the issues that are important to them!

3

ACTION

We aim to start and support youth-led projects to create meaningful change both in and out of the school grounds.

We support and partner with different groups, advisors and individuals to make sure that we don't reinvent the wheel and that our time is spent wisely to create the biggest impact possible!

" Our future is decided by what we do today. Your voice is powerful and now is the time to use it! "

HOW DO WE DO THIS IN SVN

We do this by creating project teams and working together across schools to make meaningful change. For instance, our campaign on the tampon tax (seen below)

These are a couple of the posters that were put up at schools across Victoria alongside a petition to parliament to remove the GST on women's menstruation products.

In collaboration with efforts across the country, we are glad to say the tax has now been axed!

The Student Voice Network's mission is to provide a platform for Australian Students to let their voice be heard and to help youth create for themselves the kind of future they can be excited for and proud of.

OUR

MISSION

WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR...

  • Run a successful campaign on ending the tampon tax as well as educating what we estimate to be hundreds of people on this issue. All of this while bringing humour and a different perspective to this issue that hasn't been seen before.

  • Supported the World Vision's 40hour Back Pack Challenge members helping to collectively raise over $10,000

  • Participated in One Girl's Do It In A Dress Challenge raising $972 for girls education - That's 3 girls educated!

  • Participated in the For The Love Of The Reef Challenge with AYCC

  • Created an awesome leadership team

  • Founded relationships with AYCC, World Vision, 300 Blankets, Friends Of The Earth, Earth Echo International and more

  • Created an Advisory Council now filled with experienced professionals such as Mei-Lin Chen Yi Mei (City of Yarra Councillor), Charmaine Waduge (Senior Public Affairs at World Vision) and Peter Royce (From 300 Blankets)

  • We have created a School Data Bank so we can learn from each other - this is now available to every single member

  • We have grown from just 40 members to over triple that with over 150 members from 15 high schools and 4 universities nationally!

  • We held an in person meet and planning day to get ready for an action packed 2020 so we can keep extending our impact!

" Our future is decided by what we do today. Your voice is powerful and now is the time to use it! "

If you really care about an issue then why wait for someone else to solve it?
